The Gattinara “Molsino” by Nervi is considered the emblem of the winery, the most well-known bottle that represents the area of the denomination at the highest levels. It is made with a selection of Nebbiolo from a single estate cru, renowned for the excellent quality of its grapes, capable of combining the typical savory and mineral freshness of the terroir with a rich fruit maturity. Its essential, pure, yet harmonious and enveloping character makes it a red of great charm, ranking among the best labels in the regional landscape. An indispensable wine.
The “Molsino” Gattinara is one of the most famous bottles of Alto Piemonte. It originates from the Nervi estate, which is now controlled by Conterno, a renowned wine brand from the Langhe. The vineyards cover a total of 27 hectares and are located in a magnificent hilly area at the foot of the Alpine chain and the Monte Rosa massif. The grapes used to produce this label come exclusively from some plots located in the Molsino cru, which is situated at an altitude ranging from 250 to 420 meters above sea level. The vines are about 30 years old and are cultivated on ancient volcanic soils, composed of sands and clays rich in iron minerals, resulting from the disintegration of volcanic rocks. The grapes are fermented in oak barrels and in cement tanks. This is followed by a long and articulated aging process, which involves 48 months in oak barrels.
The red Gattinara “Molsino” by Nervi is an excellence that all enthusiasts of Nebbiolo and great Piedmont wines should taste at least once in their lifetime. Of a light ruby red color with slight garnet reflections, it expresses all the elegance and harmonious finesse of a great mountain Nebbiolo. On the nose, it captivates with notes of medicinal herbs, balsamic hints, nuances of dried flowers, and soft spices, on a background of small red berry fruits. The entry on the palate is gentle and balanced, with ripe fruit, enveloped in a well-integrated tannic structure. The finish is persistent and characterized by a lively and pleasant freshness.
