The Recioto della Valpolicella ‘Valpantena’ by Bertani is a sweet red of ancient Veronese tradition, a historic ancestor of Amarone. It is made from the smallest and best sun-exposed clusters from the hills of Valpantena, north of Verona, which rest for about three months on traditional drying racks in the Grezzana fruit cellars. Fermentation is interrupted to preserve a natural and generous sweetness. On the nose, aromas of berry jam, tobacco, chocolate, and licorice emerge.
